On April 4 and 5, ESFLU organized a joint expert meeting at the WOAH headquarters in Paris on zoonotic aspects of swine flu, back-to-back with a swine flu meeting of the OFFLU (global animal flu network). The meeting gathered several national and international stakeholder representatives on swine and human influenza. The meeting addressed the joint prioritization, risk perception and intervention options for control and prevention of influenza infections in swine. In addition to that, knowledge gaps were identified as well as opportunities for more effective communication to the different stakeholders, such as farmers, veterinarians, scientists and the general public. The outcomes of the meeting will be processed and shared at a later point in time.
