The city

Thessaloniki is the 2^nd largest city in Greece and a capital city of Central Macedonia Region with 1,1 million residents in its metropolitan area. It is located 504Km north of Athens.

Airports

Thessaloniki is served by the Makedonia International Airport (SKG), located approximately 15 kilometers south east of the city center. Upon arrival, you have several options for transferring to the city:

Reaching the city Center       

Taxi: Taxis are readily available outside the arrivals area. A journey to the Conference venue which is close to the city center (15 min walking) typically takes around 30 minutes, depending on traffic, and costs approximately 20-25 euros during the day and 32-35 euros at night (00.00-05.00)

Public Bus: The local bus service, operated by OASTH, provides a cost-effective option for reaching the city center. Bus route 01X (01Ν during the night) connects the airport with Thessaloniki city center.

The journey takes approximately 45 minutes and the ticket price is 1,80 euros. You can buy the ticket onboard from a machine (It is suggested to have the exact amount of money as the machine doesn’t return change money). To go to the venue get off the bus after 13 stops (Agia Fotini – University of Macedonia) and walk 5 minutes.

Accomodation

For attendees of the ESFLU 2024 Meeting, here are a few recommended hotels located in close proximity to the venue. All hotels are in walkable distance from the venue and in the city center. In any case the venue will be reachable by bus 10-15 min or by taxi 5-10 min with a taxi fare around 5 to 6 euros.

The Venue

The meeting will be hosted at the Aristotle University Research Dissemination Center located at in the Aristotle University Campus at 3d Septemvriou str. (40°37’37.0″N 22°57’44.4″E).
